Software AG: 16th Consecutive Year Named A Leader in Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Architecture Tools

  • Software AG and 14 other vendors evaluated on Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision
  • Enterprise Architecture a critical component in companies’ compliance with digital operational resilience regulations
  • New release 11.4 of Alfabet FastLane incorporates BI functionality into EA reporting

Gartner, Inc., named Software AG a Leader in its 2023 “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools,” published on November 20, 2023*. This is the sixteenth consecutive year that Software AG has been placed in the Leaders quadrant.

Conrad Langhammer, VP for the Alfabet product, noted:
“We are pleased with Gartner recognition of Software AG as a Leader in the enterprise architecture (EA) market. We believe that Software AG’s Leaders position for sixteen consecutive years is testimony to its ability to keep pace with the imperatives for business technology. Current events and those in the recent past have made us all too aware of the fragility of our business environment if not sufficiently protected. Our customers face business disruption on many fronts. Alfabet’s broad range of capabilities and our team’s expertise can help them turn these business challenges into business opportunities.”

The Gartner report says of Leaders: “Leaders have a deep understanding of the realities of the market, a reliable global delivery record and an ability to influence the market’s direction, along with an ability to attract and keep a growing customer base.”

Digital Operational Resilience a growing challenge to businesses

One business challenge growing more and more persistent is digital operational resiliency. There are many new and updated regulations in all regions of the globe addressing the risk posed by the many internal and external IT interdependencies of operational impact extending far beyond the location of the failure. A recent example is DORA (the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act)—passed in January 2023—which aims to make the EU financial sector more resilient against operational disruption caused by IT failure. By January 17, 2025, organizations must demonstrate that they have complete visibility into their IT landscape and how it supports business operations, and that they can reliably identify and mitigate risk to the IT.

Software AG’s Alfabet provides capabilities that can address operational resilience. With its single source of truth and central platform for all change agents and stakeholders, change impact discoveries and strategy-to-execution chain of activities, a company can build resilience to operational risks and strategic setbacks.

New release of Alfabet FastLane with BI functionality in Smart Data Workbench

Software AG just recently announced release 11.4 of Alfabet FastLane, an entry-level product for companies just establishing their EA practices. Release 11.4 is part of a series of releases bringing sweeping changes to user experience designed to meet the expectations of today’s digital business user. The new Smart Data Workbench is one of these innovations - a state-of-the-art approach to data management and analytics - allowing the user to work independently of solution designers to get at-a-glance object information as well visualizations. By leveraging commonly used business intelligence functionalities, the Smart Data Workbench enables reporting on the IT portfolio directly in Alfabet. This includes carrying out changes to class data and relations directly in the product and enabling users to slice and dice the data set and create meaningful data visualizations ranging from business charts (e.g., bar, pie, line) to Kanban, Gantt and portfolio diagrams.
