Software AG: 15th Consecutive Year Named A Leader in Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Architecture Tools

  • Software AG evaluated for Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute
  • Enterprise architecture (EA) management key for sustainability transformation
  • Alfabet product release 10.15 delivers new facility for improving EA data quality

Software AG (Frankfurt MDAX: SOW), announced today that Gartner, Inc has positioned Software AG as a Leader in its 2022 “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools,” published on December 12, 2022*. This is the fifteenth consecutive year that Gartner has named Software AG a Leader for its Ability to Execute and its Completeness of Vision.

The Gartner report notes: “EA tools help envision, model and plan for the future of the enterprise, with features to continuously evolve business and operating models. Enterprise architecture and technology innovation leaders should select EA tools that support long-term transformation, modernization and innovation goals.”

Stefan Sigg, chief product officer and member of the Board, Software AG, noted: “We are pleased with Gartner’s recognition of Software AG as a Leader in the EA Tools market. We believe that Software AG’s Leaders position for fifteen consecutive years demonstrates its understanding of EA’s role in helping companies respond effectively to the constant stream of disruptive events that is today’s market reality. Our customers face business disruption on many fronts and know Alfabet’s broad range of capabilities and our team’s expertise can help them turn these business challenges into business opportunities.”

High on the list of companies’ many challenges today is designing, planning and executing on a sustainability strategy. Software AG recognizes that IT plays a vital role in sustainability by driving digital transformation and by carefully managing its own energy needs. Enterprise architecture (EA) is key in addressing these efforts. An effective EA discipline shows where to initiate the changes needed to transform IT into a driver of a company’s sustainability transformation and then plans those changes. Further, a core practice in EA is rationalizing and transforming the IT portfolio of applications and technologies in alignment with company strategy and business feasibility. Under the lens of sustainability, this practice can contribute considerably to a company’s ESG goals. Alfabet has the capabilities necessary to support these activities.

Reliable insights for good business and IT transformation decisions require high quality data on the IT architecture. The Gartner report comes just a few weeks after Software AG’s new Alfabet release 10.15 which includes a new Data Quality Rules facility. The facility enables data quality analysis directly in the Alfabet interface. Based on customer-defined data quality rules, a data quality score is calculated for objects to indicate data completeness and correctness and is displayed in the data view the user is working with. This context-specific data quality check is helpful for users responsible for only a particular slice of data for which they can provide input. Its ease-of-use encourages user commitment to keeping architecture information current and accurate and addresses one of the biggest challenges in large, dispersed organizations needing to make critical decisions on transformation activities.
