Software AG extends partnership with Electric Racing Academy
Darmstadt, Germany – Software AG (Frankfurt MDAX: SOW), has announced a new sponsorship agreement with the Electric Racing Academy (ERA). This agreement builds on an existing technology partnership and will see Software AG as exclusive title partner at the European race schedule in 2022.
The ERA already uses Software AG’s Cumulocity platform to pull performance data from the cars and present it live to the analytics teams in the pit lane. Live information on battery use, heat and other key vehicle updates enables the race teams to make up-to-the minute adjustments to race strategy and advise on driver performance. ERA Championship is the world's first all-electric junior formula racing series, showcasing high-tech performance electric motorsport in a competitive environment that guarantees close racing.
Beth Georgiou, Racing Director at ERA said: "Electric racing is hugely technical and the data coming out of the cars is absolutely unprecedented at this level of the sport. We need to have a platform in place to harness this valuable information and present it to the race teams and drivers when it matters most: when it’s happening. We’ve been working closely with Software AG on that already, and we’re delighted that the team decided to extend our relationship by taking on lead sponsorship of our European race series.”
Dawn Colossi, CMO at Software AG added: “We love how ERA has completely re-imagined formula racing by leveraging technology and data. ERA embodies everything we believe in at Software AG. From levelling the playing field to leveraging a truly connected enterprise, Beth and her team have created a truly inclusive and democratized approach to motor sport. We’re delighted to extend our partnership with ERA to showcase the story of how the connection, communication, and collaboration between technology and racing has turned data into value to transform the racing world and to compete in a whole new way. We look forward to some exciting racing this year.”
The European race series kicks off in Turkey on the weekend of May 21-22, before moving to Hungary (June 11-12), Spain (June 18-19), Belgium (July 9-10) and Italy (July 23-24).
