The Gartner report comes just a week before Software AG’s new Alfabet release 10.11. Highlights of the release are:

• Dynamically Composed Portfolio Insights: Provides an AI-based conversational user interface (CUI) for harvesting of architecture and portfolio insights using natural speech patterns for information search.
• Embedded MS Teams Calendaring: Enables creation - in Alfabet - of MS Teams meetings on EA-related topics. The meetings automatically become part of the relevant users’ MS Teams calendars.
• Universal REST API Connector: Facilitates integration between Alfabet and third-party products using a code-less, business user-ready connector to almost any REST API endpoint.
• Portfolio Analytics with Self-service Context Discovery: Allows users to choose in which context to view portfolio analysis results, e.g. in an information flow diagram or portfolio chart, to find the most relevant expression of the data.
• Multi-perspective Object Assessment: Performs portfolio assessments in 3D using multiple evaluation criteria to evaluate objects from various perspectives such as evaluating business capabilities vis-á-vis competitor organizations.

Further development of Software AG’s Alfabet FastLane product for entry-level portfolio management equips the customer with new investment portfolio management capabilities that relate projects with capabilities, applications and technologies to help align capital expenditure with business goals, plan architecture support for projects and monitor project portfolio delivery progress.

The Gartner report notes: “Leaders have a deep understanding of the realities of the market, a reliable global delivery record, an ability to influence the market’s direction, along with an ability to attract and keep a growing customer base. In the EA tool market, leadership implies understanding, facilitating and supporting the strategic role enterprise architects play at a much broader level. They are more business-strategy-focused, with a shared operating model at the business level that helps drive the relationship with IT. Leaders must not only demonstrate a market-leading vision, but also the ability to execute on that vision”
