ITOCHU Selects Software AG's ARIS for Process-Driven Digital Transformation to Accelerate Strategic Digitization for the Entire Company
Software AG today announced that Software AG Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Software AG, has been selected by ITOCHU Corporation, a general trading company headquartered in Tokyo, to use its ARIS business process management solution. This will enable Itochu to pursue process-driven digital transformation and accelerate the strategic digitalization for the entire company. With this implementation, the company completed 10-15% visualization of its highly strategic process architecture in just two months and plans to increase the number of business processes visualized by 50-60 processes per year.
As one of Japan's largest general trading companies, ITOCHU Corporation has been a leader in its industry since it was established in 1858, and is promoting the latest digitalization and automation technologies throughout the entire company group.
However, each department within the company was utilizing individual systems and tools with their own processes unique to their different products and business partners. With no standard processes across the business, managing the different requirements for each department, extracting consistent data, and data visualization, had become a major challenge.
The company therefore looked for a tool that would centralize the visualization and automation of various processes and highlight areas that could be further be digitized and automated. It selected ARIS for this due to its versatility in linking various systems and formats. By utilizing flow templates, the DX team was able to quickly add business flows without having to create them from scratch and easily link them to other processes.
Accelerating Digital Transformation at a General Trading Company through the Power of Visualization
The DX team set to work to understand the current situation and drill down into the details of each department, and in just over two months, has already visualized 10-15% of the basic trade processes. At this speed, it expects to achieve its goal of visualizing 50 to 60 processes per year.
Yusuke Yamaji, leader of the DX Project Promotion Office in the IT & Digital Strategy Department, said, "ARIS has a high level of visualization, which makes it easier to identify issues. It has made it possible to achieve things that were thought to be impossible with other tools. In addition to work procedures, we are now able to visualize entire processes by bringing together the various systems, ledgers, macros, and other tools needed to manage the business. We can also identify the key processes we want to automate in the future and share them with our staff. Now we are able to isolate strategic processes that we want to prioritize in the future."
