Software AG and Bilfinger SE Announce Strategic Partnership to Bring Fast, Low-Risk & Cost Effective IoT to the Process Industry

  • Bilfinger’s Connected Asset Performance solution and Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform will provide a “smart” layer on existing plant equipment
  • Customer benefits include continuous optimization of operational performance
  • Customers can now build on predictive maintenance capabilities extending their solution portfolio to include prescriptive analytics

Software AG (Frankfurt TecDAX: SOW) today announced a strategic partnership with leading international industrial service provider Bilfinger SE to significantly reduce the risk, time to value and cost of Internet of Things adoption for companies in the process industry. The new venture Bilfinger Digital Next, a center of competence for digitalization, will integrate Bilfinger’s Connected Asset Performance (BCAP) solution with Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform.

“Bilfinger Digital Next is a hugely creative approach to lowering IoT entry barriers. It limits upfront investments and reduces complexity for large chemical, pharmaceutical and Oil & Gas enterprises and also for medium sized companies. Covering all relevant aspects of digitalization Bilfinger Digital Next will significantly reduce customer risk and accelerate time to value”, said Software AG CEO Karl-Heinz Streibich.

The combination of BCAP and Cumulocity provides customers with rapid and comprehensive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) analysis, the basis on which Opex enhancement measures are taken, therefore lowering operating costs. The technical integration of Cumulocity into BCAP significantly improves analytics providing a “smart” layer on existing equipment and the basis for optimal decisions concerning plant utilization and development.

Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT is an open and independent platform, which operates across cloud, on premises and at the edge, provides enterprises and Service Providers with total freedom and choice in designing, building, deploying and evolving their IoT distributed deployments operating seamlessly across any network.

Together, as a process industry first, they will enable a total view of operational efficiency and optimization possibilities laying the basis for prescriptive analytics. Enterprises can easily address the opportunities provided by today’s burgeoning digital economy and the underlying software and hardware technologies to optimize their own operations and provide new digital customer services.

Tom Blades, CEO of Bilfinger SE: "We have brought the digitalization possibilities for our customers to a new level. We are now in a position to decisively shape the digital transformation in the process industry offering digital solutions that up to now were not available in the market. Easy, efficient and effective for our clients, we will manage all aspects of the digitalization transformation from technology, infrastructure, consulting to operational and business level support services. Software AG, through ADAMOS, has already established new, innovative ways of bringing the benefits of IoT to the discrete manufacturing industry. We are now doing this for companies in the process industry".

The new offering is available immediately.
